- Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries) will star a Roberto Duran biopic named Hands of Stone, while Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman) seems to be rumoured for the role of Duran’s trainer, Ray Arcel. The movie about this man, who boxed professionally for 50 years, will be directed by Jonathan Jakubowiczwill.
It seems to me an Oscar-kind of role for Bernal, specially when movies like Rocky, Million Dollar Baby or The Wrestler gave to some members of their cast Academy Awards nominations, specially their leads. It would be great seeing Bernal talent being recognized and Al Pacino back to the Oscar nods. - Chris Zylka may join the untitled upcoming Spiderman reboot directed by Marc Webb. The actor may play the role of Eugene Thompson, well-known in the comics as "Flash". If the news are true, Zylka will join a wonderful cast composed by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard), Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Denis Leary as George Stacy.
- According to Collider, "while Man of Steel will feature Superman, the primary focus is on Clark Kent. Per What’s Playing, “A character breakdown issued to casting agencies this week says that the plot involves Clark getting involved in some sort of battle between two tribes in West Africa. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, Clark returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be”". The article also reports that Anne Hathaway is in contention to play Lois Lane, Superman's love interest.
Well, Man of Steel will be produced by Christopher Nolan, so I'm sure that all these strange things that are appearing in the media about the movie's story are for the movie's good. About Anne Hathaway... ok, she seems a really fine choice and she would collect another blockbuster for her body of work composed for mainstream movies.
At the moment, I have a question on my mind: who could play Superman? Tom Welling (Superman in Smallville TV series)? Matthew Goode (Woody Allen's Match Point and The Watchmen)? Henry Cavill (The Tudors TV series and a previous contender for Superman Returns)? I think I'm going to write a post about it...
