Well, it seems that the following names will get an Oscar nod a couple of weeks from here. The Directors Guild of America have been nominated a lot of directors who got an Oscar nod in the year they received a DGA Award. Here's the list of this year's nominees:
Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan
David Fincher for The Social Network
Tom Hooper for The King's Speech
Christopher Nolan for Inception
David O. Russell for The Fighter
But being nominated isn't a way to have a guaranteed seat between the Oscar nominees. Even some winners didn't get an Oscar nod (like Steven Spielberg for The Color Purple), there are few, but they exist. The strongest contender to take the DGA Award is David Fincher, for sure, and the "weakest" nominee that may not get an Academy Award of Best Director nominee easier is David O. Russell, specially with the Coen brothers (True Grit), Danny Boyle (127 Hours) and Debra Granik (Winter's Bone) in his way to the Academy's recognition.
